  • We are looking for absolutely anyone and everyone to join us. The more people who know, the more our project will grow and expand. We want to be able to educate those with or without experience, and hope that your time with us will leave not only a memorable impact, but also one that will leave you wanting to tell everyone you know.

  • No experience is required in order to join Project Hiu. We want people from all walks of life to join us, learn about our cause, and help in the fight against the shark fin trade. Having experience is great, but it is not required and doesn’t guarantee that you’ll be accepted.

  • No, it also isn’t required that you need to have experience or a background in marine biology. This isn’t a scientific internship, you’ll be here mostly working with people and learning how true conservation efforts are executed and what it takes. Having a degree in marine biology is beneficial, but again not required and will not increase your odds of being accepted.

  • No experience, no problem. Let us be your first experience, and one that will help you gain more even after your time with us.

  • You must be 21 years or older, and it is required during the application process. You could be asked post application to provide proof of age.

  • We have different prices for locals. please download our PDF for more information.

  • “My experience with Project Hiu was nothing short of amazing and unforgettable. From the moment I met the fishermen, they welcomed me like family, making me feel at home despite the short two week stay. Each day was filled with fun and meaningful tasks that kept me engaged and excited to contribute. Project Hiu is an impactful initiative that I’m proud to have been a part of.”

    - ERVIN, JAKARTA

  • “I started my one month internship with Project Hiu in April and I loved it so much I decided to extend to two months. In my time here, I have grown close with the shark fishermen and built bonds that will last a lifetime. I am thankful to Madison Stewart and Madyson Clost, founder and general manager of the project, for giving me this opportunity to learn ecotourism management and helping me develop my own project to contribute as well. I feel I have learned and grown throughout this internship and it is an experience I will never forget.”

    — SCARLETTE, USA

  • “I did the month long internship with project hiu and I could not recommend more! This internship gives you hands on experience with running the day trips and helping the project behind the scenes with whatever you can bring to the table ! You’re managed by the best team and you’ll quickly become such a close family with all the interns and the crew. It was the most fulfilling experience I’ve ever had and I definitely will be coming back!”

    — SHANNON, CANADA

  • “My time with Project Hiu was life changing! I was only able to do the 2-week internship and wish I was able to do more. Forming a relationship with “the boys” (shark fishermen) was certainly one of the highlights and a big part of why I want to come back. The founder and general manager of Project Hiu are also intrinsically involved with the surrounding community, which was amazing to witness. I can’t think of a better way to help sharks than by supporting those that had no choice then to fish sharks before this project. This internship is definitely what you make of it, so come ready to create something of your own and have fun!”
