Shark Girl named Young Conservationist of the Year
On Focus with Wendy Harmer
Madison Stewart has been named Young Conservationist of the Year by Australian Geographic Society for her work advocating for the protection of sharks and other marine life. After starting to scuba diving as a teenager Madison Stewart became mesmerised by the beauty of the sea and its sharks. She's now turned her hand to underwater photography and filmmaking. She's a passionate advocate for what she believes is a misunderstood species and has successfully lobbied large supermarkets to stop the sale of shark products. She came into ABC Radio Sydney to talk to Wendy Harmer.
